Prince Philip’s death will trigger a number of Royal protocols in Canada, however, a number of those will be impacted by COVID-19 restrictions. Mike Le Couteur takes a look at what it will mean, and what will happen in Canada to honour the Duke of Edinburgh, including a small service in seven to nine days from his death.

Philip was a pivotal figure in the British royal family. He was the longest-serving consort to a monarch in British history, having been in the role for more than 60 years.

Buckingham Palace announced his death in a statement Friday:

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
