Eight former Indian Navy personnel have been handed death sentences in Qatar. They face serious charges that have not been made public by either Qatar or India. Reacting to the development, the foreign ministry described it as "shocking". But the foreign ministry refused to comment much on the case given the "confidential nature of proceedings". They have said that they will contest the case. The men have been in jail since August 2022 New Delhi has been working to secure their release. The men went to trial in March. What's next for them?
