Eight former officers of the Indian Navy have been handed death penalty in Qatar following allegations of spying for Israel, sources said. Calling the judgment "shocking", the foreign ministry said it would not comment much on the case given the "confidential nature of proceedings" but assured that it would contest the case. The men, including decorated officers who once commanded major Indian warships, were working for Dahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services, a private firm that provided training and related services to Qatar's armed forces. Former navy officer Alok Bansal explains the case.
