Canada has accused the Indian government of being behind the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian Sikh leader and activist of the Khalistan movement, which supports a separate Sikh homeland.

It's been a flashpoint for violence for decades, and while Sikhs are a religious minority in India, Canada has the world’s largest Sikh diaspora.
