What if I told you in the US there's an infection in infants that they're more likely to get than rubella syphilis and HIV combined? Would you believe me? Well, it exists. And it's called CMV.
CMV is a herpes virus. It's not a respiratory virus. So the way that a woman would be exposed or anybody is through human to human contact, such as with saliva, or urine or other bodily fluids.
A healthy adult may not even know they've been exposed to CMV or they might have some cold-like symptoms, but for most of us, it's a nonevent in our lives, and we're not even aware. According to the CDC, over 50% of U.S adults will have a CMV infection by the time they’re 40.
