We had a bold assertion from a Labour frontbencher that the general election is coming in May.

Jonathan Ashworth insisted the Conservatives are "planning" for it that month, rather than in October or November as is widely anticipated.

Former Home Secretary Priti Patel wouldn't be drawn on when she thinks the election will be, but didn't rule out the chances of it being in May.

"We'll be ready whatever," she told our political editor Beth Rigby.
