Canada's Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland was in Switzerland on Thursday, meeting with political and business leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit. Freeland spoke to delegates about shoring up Canada's economy, as nations contend with inflation.

“After the shock that we all experienced during COVID with things shut down, our people are just going to demand a little more security in their supply chains,” Freeland said, adding that geopolitical issues have also placed pressure on global prices.

Former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney also issued a warning that global supply shocks are becoming more persistent, forcing central bankers to adapt to tame inflation.
