'We do need to upgrade how much we spend on defence,' says Tobias Ellwood

Chair of the Defence Select Committee Tobias Ellwood has said the government needs to upgrade how much is spent on defence in the UK.

He was speaking to Kay Burley ahead of Defence Secretary Ben Wallace's meeting with his counterpart Boris Pistorius in Germany over military support in Ukraine.

Mr Ellwood added: "Our defence budget has remained on a peacetime setting and the committee have been arguing for some time that we now need to recognise our world is moving into a more dangerous place.

"We do need to upgrade how much we spend on defence."
