WATCH: Why a ban on TikTok won’t solve all data privacy concerns

Last Thursday, House members - of both parties - questioned TikTok CEO Shou Chew over the app's parent company ByteDance’s connections to the Chinese government. Specifically, lawmakers were concerned with how TikTok handles user data and content moderation - as debate grows on Capitol Hill and in the White House to ban TikTok, or force a sale to a U.S. company.

As the U.S. government considers these options, PBS NewsHour digital anchor Nicole Ellis spoke to Caitriona Fitzgerald of the Electronic Privacy Information Center to discuss the concerns around one of the world's most popular social media apps, major concerns over internet privacy, and what a government ban on TikTok could look like .
