NASA’s new car-sized rover Perseverance landed on Mars last week via a complicated, multi-stage descent that required a parachute and a sky crane to make a gentle touchdown. During much of the sequence, NASA scientists had limited communication with the spacecraft, relying on its automatic systems to execute the landing. New video released Monday shows how the craft safely descended through the thin Martian atmosphere, ready to begin its mission to search for signs of ancient life.
