Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., presented flags flown over the 2021 inauguration ceremony to Vice President Kamala Harris at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20. Before presenting the flag, McConnell joked to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., that both Biden and Harris had served as senators entering the White House: “not only did we just swear in a son and daughter of the Senate, but indeed both these former senators skipped the House altogether.” McConnell also noted Harris' history-making role as the first female vice president.
