The evidence session is taking place less than 24 hours after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak won a crunch vote on his Rwanda plan despite right-wing Conservative factions announcing they could not back emergency "stop the boats" legislation.
The committee will examine the Government’s approach to tackling irregular migration and whether the Government’s Rwanda scheme will meet its aims including driving down the cost of the asylum system and acting as a deterrent.
