In his third State of the Union March 7, President Joe Biden hailed the United Auto Workers union, praising its efforts to keep an auto factory open in an Illinois town.

Biden called it one of the “great comeback stories,” and, addressing the town’s residents, said “instead of your town being left behind, your community is moving forward again.”

Biden was the first president to ever stand on a picket line when he attended a UAW strike in Michigan last November.

“Wall Street didn't build America,” Biden said. “They're not bad guys. They didn't build it, though. The middle class built the country and unions built the middle class.”

Biden’s address comes as he seeks reelection against likely Republican nominee former President Donald Trump.
