Just hours into his presidency and saying there was "no time to waste," President Joe Biden signed several executive orders addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic crisis, climate change and issues around racial inequities. Sitting in the Oval Office as the 46th president, Biden signed an order that reenters the U.S. into the Paris climate accord, which former President Donald Trump had withdrawn from in 2017.
While Trump broke tradition by not attending the inauguration or taking part in other rituals of the presidential transfer of power, he left behind a letter for Biden. The new president said it was a "very generous letter" but said he wouldn't comment on its contents until he could talk to Trump.
