World leaders said they were watching Russia closely after the short-lived insurrection led by Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, many of them stretching that they were not and would not get involved in what was described as a “challenging internal situation.”

“This is something that Russians will be dealing with over the coming days,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“I think we need to make sure that we are not facilitating the liberal use of propaganda and disinformation that we know the Russians tend to do and staying carefully monitoring, but not getting involved is the responsible and safe thing to do.”

U.S. President Joe Biden said he had made it clear Moscow that America was not involved and that he “gave Putin no excuse to blame this on the West, to blame this on NATO.”

Uncertainty is swirling around the fate of Prigozhin and Russian military leaders in the weekend rebellion.
