A stingray named Charlotte has reportedly become pregnant without a male at a small aquarium in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains.

The aquarium is now preparing for what could be a "virgin birth," as the founder of Team ECCO, Brenda J. Ramer, believes that parthenogenesis may have taken place.

It's also possible that Charlotte was impregnated by a bamboo shark that shared her enclosure, thought it is a remote possibility.
