Seven Hong Kong pro-democracy activists in, including media tycoon Jimmy Lai and barrister Martin Lee, were found guilty on Thursday of organizing an unauthorized march and will now face time in prison.

The seven had pleaded not guilty, with two other activists having earlier pleaded guilty, and now face up to five years in prison. Legal experts say those who pleaded not guilty will likely see a 12 to 18 month prison term.

The campaigners were accused in relation to a peaceful demonstration held on August 18, 2019 on Hong Kong Island, which grew into an unauthorized march as numbers swelled. It's the latest crackdown on Hong Kong after the imposition of a national security law last year. Sean Previl reports.
