Vancouver Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man who they say violently attacked a driver in an unprovoked assault earlier this month near the Vancouver Art Gallery.

According to police, at around 1 p.m. on Aug. 6, a 25-year-old driver was approached by a panhandler at the front of his car, who blocked him from being able to move forward. At a certain point in dashcam video that police have released, the suspect can be seen gesturing "aggressively" toward the driver and screams at him.

The driver is eventually able to manoeuver away, but as he drives off the suspect allegedly threw a bottle through the window and struck him in his head. Due to the violent nature of the assault, police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact them.
