A dog's sense of smell is about a million times better than that of humans. Dogs also inhale up to 300 times per minute in short breaths. That means their olfactory cells are constantly supplied with new odor particles. And it's because of that amazing organ that dogs are being brought into the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus. Researchers say sniffer dogs can detect COVID-19 quickly and cheaply. So far, their skills are hardly being used to control the pandemic. So why probe human noses to detect the virus when a dog's nose can sniff it out?
