US aviation regulators have ordered added inspections for Boeing 777 aircraft which use the same engine as the United Airlines flight on Sunday which failed.
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an emergency directive calling for increased inspections focusing on the engines’ fan blades.
The engine, made by Pratt and Whitney, had catastrophic failure soon after take off from Denver, littering suburbs with debris.
United Airlines said it would temporarily remove 24 of its 777s from use.
