The US is taking increasingly assertive steps in trying to limit settler violence.

First, the demand was made for Israel to control "extremist" violence. Following that, a visa ban was imposed last week on some individuals linked to this violence. Now, the shipment of 27,000 military-style rifles, initially destined for the Israeli national police, has been temporarily halted by the Biden administration. There are concerns that these weapons could end up in the hands of settlers.

Notably, the pause comes after the shipment had already cleared the initial congressional review and passed the committee stage.
