US President Biden marks 51 anniversary of Roe v Wade with Reproductive Healthcare Task Force

51 years ago today, the landmark abortion rights bill Roe v Wade was passed in the United States. To mark the milestone, US President Biden will hold with his Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access to mark the 51st anniversary.

Roe v Wade refers to the 1973 Supreme Court case that said the government could not prohibit abortions because the constitutional right to liberty includes the right to decide whether to continue a pregnancy.


In June 2022 the Supreme Court overturned the landmark decision.
