US election: Trump supporters rally in DC against Congress' certification of Biden victory

Thousands of Donald Trump supporters descended on the U.S. capital on Wednesday to decry the vote in the Electoral College and oppose Congress' certification of the Republican president's Nov. 3 election loss to president-elect Joe Biden.

"[Trump] won legitimately, and if you have to win by losing, you're still a loser," a Trump supporter from Chicago said.

The rallies had local officials and law enforcement bracing for potential violent street clashes. Officials said there were six arrests by Tuesday night for a variety of offences including weapons and ammunition possession, assaulting a police officer, simple assault and possessing a stun gun.
