There are signs that parts of the United States are emerging from the worst of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Positive cases continue to fall, as do hospitalisations.
But while COVID-19 infections are going down, the death toll is going in the opposite direction.
2,500 people a day in the US are dying from omicron variant of the coronavirus — much higher than most other developed countries.
