Late on Sunday, the Pentagon announced that, at the order of US President Joe Biden, the US carried out air raids along the Syria-Iraq border. The US attacks targeted facilities used by Iran-backed militias that have launched drone attacks on US personnel and facilities in Iraq.
Iraq's popular mobilisation forces say four of their members were killed in the attacks.
A statement by the Pentagon said several armed groups, including Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, used the bombed facilities.
Biden had ordered raids against the same groups in February.
