U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who died during the violent riot defending the building on Jan. 6, was lying in honour in the building's Rotunda on Tuesday.

President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and multiple police officers paid their respects where his urn had been placed.

A viewing period is taking place overnight with a ceremonial departure for Arlington National Cemetery planned on Wednesday.
