U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Wednesday that, on request of the mayor of Uvalde, Texas, the Justice Department will be conducting a critical incident review of the law enforcement response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School.

Garland said the review will not be a criminal investigation, but will include interviews and site visits to the city. A final report will then be issued publicly and will include recommendations.

Garland added that the team reviewing the law enforcement response to the Uvalde school shooting was already working and would be "on the ground as necessary."

He also said they were expecting voluntary cooperation from all levels of government and law enforcement, adding that they had been promised said cooperation.
