The United Nations Security Council has officially backed Antonio Guterres for a second five-year term as secretary-general.
While the decision was expected, Guterres’ style of quiet diplomacy has been a disappointment for human rights organisations, who say he has been too reluctant to criticise the powerful governments who handed him the job.
