A new report by the United Nations education, science and culture agency (UNESCO) is calling for a global ban of smartphone use in schools, saying evidence shows removing them could improve learning and possibly reduce cyberbullying as well.
While countries continue to adopt digital technology in teaching, the UN agency says policymakers must not side-step the importance of face-to-face teaching.
As Sean Previl reports, while the study is putting forward the push for the ban, educational experts say a blanket ban is not enough to impact learning habits or cyberbullying.
