It has been more than eight months since Russia invaded Ukraine, and the war continues.
Many towns and cities have become battlegrounds between the two militaries.
Fighting has also been intensifying in eastern regions - with Russian forces shelling the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, some still refuse to leave their homes.

Al Jazeera’s Assed Baig reports from the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, were he went to meet some of the people living nearest the frontline.
