Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba warned on Thursday that the battle for Donbas, where the invasion by Russia appears to be shifting to, would remind the world of the Second World War, with large operations, involvement of thousands of tanks and other armoured vehicles, as well as planes and artillery.

"This will not be a local operation based on what we see in Russia’s preparations," Kuleba told reporters in Brussels after he attended a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which he had been invited to despite Ukraine not being a part of the alliance.

He also spoke about the alleged massacre of civilians in Bucha, saying it was "just the tip of the iceberg," saying officials have been receiving reports that the situation in Mariupol is "much, much worse on all accounts."

Kuleba made a plea once more to NATO, urging it to provide more weapons, but said that the discussions Thursday were not about the list of weapons Ukraine would receive, but when they will be given.

"Either you help us now – and I’m speaking about days, not weeks – or your help will come too late, and many people will die, many civilians will lose their homes, many villages will be destroyed, exactly because this help came too late," he said.
