Katherine King, Professor Emerita at UCLA, has been an activist for social justice since 1968 during her time at Columbia University. She participated in anti-war protests during the Vietnam War and against apartheid at Princeton University. She protested both Iraq invasions and was particularly outraged by the police actions against students at Columbia. Reflecting on current student protests, she sees parallels to her own experiences and encourages students to persist peacefully, believing they are on the right side of history in opposing what she calls an immoral war and genocide.
