It has been exactly one month since powerful earthquakes rocked millions of lives in Turkey and Syria, and signs of the colossal damage remain everywhere in the quake zone.

Roughly 52,000 people have been killed from the tremors, with two million people in Turkey being displaced. As Redmond Shannon explains, the situation is even worse in Syria, where the civil war and geopolitics are still preventing relief aid from reaching those in need.
