The UN Emergency relief co-ordinator says that the international response in Turkey and Syria has been "quite phenomenal, and is heartening".

Martin Griffiths highlights how the earthquake crisis is even more difficult in Syria than in Turkey after more than a decade of civil war there.

"Each year we fail to reach the needs of people in Syria", he added.
