Two weeks after Turkey and Syria were devastated by major earthquakes, two new quakes have shaken Turkey. The southern part of the country near its border with Syria was hit by magnitude 6.3 and magnitude 5.8 quakes.

The shaking sent residents in multiple communities to the streets out of fear the buildings they had been staying in could collapse. More than 46,000 people are confirmed to have been killed by the previous quakes and subsequent aftermath. Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said three people had been killed in the latest quakes and 213 injured.

"It was going to happen. We were expecting that," an AFAD emergency worker told reporters. "So, right now, we're expecting more. So everybody should be, you know, more prepared about this."

According to reports, while the earthquakes hit Turkey's Hatay province, they were also felt in Syria, Jordan, Israel and Egypt.
