Turkey faces election run-off after President Erdogan fails to secure outright majority

Turkey's election appears to be heading for a run-off, as it looks likely the two main candidates will fail to clear the 50% threshold needed to avoid a second round.

Speaking to supporters in Ankara, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he could still win but would respect the nation's decision if the race went to a run-off on 28 May.
