In Elbistan, Turkey, one of the epicentres of Monday’s 7.8-magnitude earthquake, the city suffered absolutely horrific damage with dozens of buildings completely destroyed and hundreds of others damaged to the point they can no longer be occupied by residents.
This has given rise to tent cities that have been set up by government-run aid organizations. One tent city visited by Global News has nearly 5,000 people being housed in it, with around 700 tents.
There are about six to eight people in each tent and they have to battle bitterly cold temperatures of around minus 12 Celsius.
Jackson Proskow has more from Elbistan.
