U.S. President Donald Trump pardoned an Iowa-farm turkey named Corn on Tuesday after a poll on the White House website decided he’ll receive the presidential pardon in this year’s annual tradition.

Corn, alongside Cob, another Iowa turkey, checked into the Willard Intercontinental Hotel on Monday ahead of the pardon, a luxury hotel in Washington, D.C. long accustomed to receiving political dignitaries and celebrities.

The pair were raised by Turkey Federation Chairman Ron Kardel, a sixth-generation Iowa farmer, on a farm near Walcott, Iowa.

Both turkeys will return to Iowa where they will live the rest of their days at the Iowa State University's Animal Science department.
