Lawyers for Donald Trump have opposed a request from the U.S. Justice Department to limit what the former president posts on social media relating to the 2020 election case.
In a filing, they say the request for a protective order violates Trump’s First Amendment rights.
The legal issues surrounding Trump’s social media usage were triggered by a post the 77-year-old shared that appeared to promise revenge on anyone who goes after him.
“If you go after me, I’m coming after you!” the Republican presidential candidate wrote in all caps.
Global's Reggie Cecchini reports.
