Republicans are pinning their hopes of re-taking U.S. Congress on celebrity candidates endorsed by former president Donald Trump.

Among the candidates on the Republican ticket heading into the crucial midterm elections is TV doctor Mehmet Oz and former NFL star Herschel Walker.

But with less than three months out from election day, those star candidates are faltering – overrun by low poll numbers, scandals and gaffes.

As Jackson Proskow reports, Trump’s push for erratic, untested and unqualified candidates might already be backfiring with voters.
