Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a stern call to Israel on Wednesday, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to shift its approach on how it is governing following a raid by Israeli police on the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem's Old City and amid ongoing protests over judicial reforms.

"We're extremely concerned by the inflamed rhetoric coming out of the Israeli government," Trudeau said. "We're concerned about the judicial reforms that have an awful lot of Israelis concerned as well. We're concerned about the violence around the Al-Aqsa mosque during this holy month of Ramadan."

According to reports, Israeli police attacked dozens of worshippers at the mosque compound before dawn, in what authorities claimed was a response to rioting. Arrests were also made.
