Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday announced that the federal government is putting a three-year pause on the federal price on home heating oil.
Trudeau says the move is being made to give everyone the "time and ability to switch to heat pumps."
The PM says changing to a heat pump will save people "thousands of dollars a year" spent on heating bills.
He says the feds are working with provinces to install a free heat pump for those who are making at or below the median household income.
Trudeau adds that those who sign up will receive a $250 payment.
