The Ambassador Bridge which links Windsor, Ont., to Detroit, saw long delays on Monday evening as protesters demonstrated in solidarity with the ongoing anti-mandate protests, at first blocking traffic for Canada-bound travellers and truck traffic.

At one point, however, Ontario Provincial Police advised the bridge was not accessible in either direction.

Some truckers stuck in Detroit sympathized with those protesting in Ottawa and those in Windsor, but also had concerns about the delays that were caused. At least one said delaying traffic at the border was not the way to get mandates dropped.

By Tuesday morning, police said the bridge had reopened but that heavy delays continued, with motorists advised to avoid the area.
