*Synopsis | The Sting (1997)*
It was an operation six months in the execution, weeks in the planning and has become one of the most celebrated journalistic scoops of the decade. How 60 Minutes found and trapped Australia's most wanted paedophile is a gripping story with the perfect ending. Hunting down leads across Central America, 60 Minutes producer Melanie Morningstar tracked Robert 'Dolly' Dunn to a tiny town in Honduras. Then, with NSW and Federal police called in, an elaborate 'sting' was arranged to lure Dunn to a hotel room. There the former schoolteacher, wanted on 91 child sex offences, sat sipping a Scotch as - to his horror - Liz Hayes walked into his room and closed a trap that could see Dunn spend the rest of his life in jail.
