Toxic drug deaths in B.C. spiked to 2,511 last year: coroners service | Power & Politics

British Columbia set a new record for toxic drug deaths in 2023. According to the B.C. Coroners Service, there were 2,511 unregulated drug deaths last year compared to 334 a decade ago in 2013. The province's chief coroner Lisa Lapointe says the infrastructure needed to treat those at risk isn't available in the country.
