Tourists rejoice as US ends international travel ban after 18 months

Passengers at London Heathrow Airport were excited and relieved to be able to travel to the United States after the country ended its international travel ban and began allowing fully-vaccinated tourists on Monday.

In France, people were also excited to see their families for the first time since the travel restrictions were brought in 2020, when the pandemic hit.

From Monday, travellers who can show official proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and have had a recent, negative viral test can fly to the United States.

The U.S. announced in October the lifting of the travel ban, which has been in place for 18 months, for international travellers, including European citizens, who have both COVID-19 vaccine doses or who have a negative PCR test 72 hours before their departure.
