While the government has pledged to welcome up to 20,000 Afghans who've fled the Taliban over the next five years, some 3,000 people from Afghanistan have been stuck in the UK's asylum system for years. Many have been left waiting for a decision on their status, while some have been refused.
So will the promise to provide sanctuary extend to them too?
