The women's wing of the BJP in Tamil Nadu today protested across the state demanding an apology from VCK Chief Thirumavalavan for making anti-women comments. The VCK chief quoted Manusmriti, an ancient Hindu text that says: "Manu Dharma treats women as prostitutes". The state police also detained actor Khushbu ahead of her protest at Cuddalore. Actor Gautami, who led the protest in Chennai, said the lawmaker's speech has made women more vulnerable to misinterpretation. Thirumavalavan, however, says he merely quoted Manusmriti and that the BJP is trying to trigger communal clashes. Watch NDTV's J Sam Daniel Stalin's report on this for more.
