Today is the deadline for the European Commission to decide whether to continue restrictions on some Ukrainian grain imports.

The European Union has been helping Kyiv export food following the Russian invasion, with what it calls “solidarity lane” export routes. But at the same time Brussels has been blocking some sales in parts of Europe.

It’s a balancing act between supporting Ukraine and keeping member states – and their grain producers – happy.

The clock is now ticking for a decision.
