Taliban fighters have captured the northern provincial capital of Kunduz, battling street by street during hours of intense fighting on Sunday morning.
Officials and residents in Kunduz are describing “total chaos”.
The armed group attacked the city from several directions and managed to get into the heart of Kunduz quite quickly.
The Afghan government, however, denies losing control of the city.
The Taliban also says it has seized another city in the north, as fighting with government forces escalates across the country.
